No light at the end of the tunnel

Thanks to the persecutions that they have suffered over the centuries the Jewish people have a greater grasp of reality than most, and have produced many appropriate aphorisms, summoning up the truth. One of which is 'If the rock falls on the jug, it's bad luck on the jug; if the jug falls on the rock, it's bad luck on the jug; it's always bad luck on the jug.', and the accuracy of this can be seen whenever Israel is forced to take military action. If the latter should take the offensive it's their fault, while if attacked by another, it's still Israel's fault!

On October 7th last year a vicious terrorist organisation attacked and murdered twelve hundred innocent Jewish civilians, yet when, unsurprisingly Israel took action to prevent a repeat of this atrocity, the moronic antisemites in the West blame the latter, and call for a ceasefire, which would only benefit the perpetrators of the massacre. At the same time the various so called international organisations, from the UN downwards take it upon themselves to back the terrorists over the democratic state of Israel. Another Jewish proverb is "He who puts up with insult invites injury" and what happened last year was much more than an insult.

As Israel takes action to stop the terrorist group Hezbollah firing rockets at her civilian population the left wing mobs, and woke commentators, are gearing up to launch their usual protests, which will once again blight the streets of London, and elsewhere. In the past few decades the Syrian government has massacred over 100,000 of its own people, sometimes with banned chemical weapons, the Arab Janjaweed in Sudan have attempted to wipe out African tribes in Darfur with a campaign of murder, rape and deportation, China pursues its suppression of the Uyghurs, over 40,000 people have fled Burma in response to the Burmese government's attacks on civilians, and Russia continues its assault on Ukraine.

Yet only the activities of the single democratic nation in the Middle East now lead to protests in Western cities. It is clear that, to those on the left, the democratic nations of the USA, the UK and Israel are the world's villains, while the latter is also the target of the antisemites who are found at both ends of the political spectrum. We would react with force if attacked, so we must support her as she fights to save her existence, and for our shared values.

Much of the blame for the perilous situation existing in the Middle East can be attributed to the naive, liberal, so called progressives, in the West who, in 1979, were so vociferous in calling for the overthrow of the Shah. He was far from perfect, but the theocratic regime which then replaced him has proved much worse. These fanatics have armed and supported terrorists throughout the Middle East, oppress the women in their own country, and call for a genocide of the Jewish people. The regime aids Russia in its attack on Ukraine, is an ally of a China intent on undermining the West, and violently discriminates against any who do not subscribe to their narrow Shia theology, including Sunni Muslims. They leave Israel no choice but to use force in order to prevent a second Holocaust of the Jewish people. The very real possibility of a major war can be traced back to the virtue signalling ignoramuses who led the way in creating a regime which threatens us all.

A serious question needs to be asked as to who exactly is running the BBC. As Israel reacted to the sadistic attack by terrorists from Gaza, the unremitting use of rockets by Hezbollah, and prepares to retaliate against Iran for its attack on her cities, the BBC still refused to describe the groups responsible as terrorists, and their sponsors in Tehran as enablers of terrorism. While interviewing spokesmen, who are nothing more than the mouthpieces of terror, the BBC derides those from Israel, and employs so called unbiased commentators who are clearly on the side of the enemies of the West. What a contrast to the days when the BBC spoke for the nation in its darkest hour, and one wonders how much further the BBC can sink. Those responsible should be rooted out, and dismissed, but under Starmer this will not happen.

At the end of the Second World War we in the UK were responsible for leading the way in setting up organisations such as the UN, which were created to prevent evil nations such as Nazi Germany, and Imperial Japan, from repeating the crimes of the thirties and forties. However, since those days, these bodies have become nothing more than forums for those who hate the West to spout their bile, while at the same time expecting we, and the Americans, to support them financially, Clearly it is in our interests to remain in the UN itself, so that we can wield the veto when necessary, but we should cease to give money to those other organisations such as the WHO, whose chose to exonerate China from blame in the Covid crisis; UNRWA, whose staff do not merely constantly attack our values, but, as in the case of the Hamas attack, actually assist the killers; the ECHR, which prevents us from expelling foreign murderers; the ICJ, which always finds against the West; and the International Criminal Tribunal, now taken over by the Left. Unfortunately with a lawyer as our PM, who clearly worships so called international law, we will see the reverse occur.

Turning to the situation at home this country is in an accelerating, downwards spiral, which will end in disaster.

the rivers are full of sewage, yet the incompetents who are in charge of our water industry are more interested in paying dividends than in putting matters right

the roads are covered in potholes, while painted signage is neglected, and vital road signs are covered in foliage, yet councils prefer to spend ratepayers' money on diversity consultants etc.

the health service is dysfunctional, as it becomes impossible to see a GP in any sort of reasonable time, and hospitals are unable to cope, yet, again, vast sums are wasted on useless bureaucrats in HR, and elsewhere, who are obsessed with gender politics, and virtue signalling about climate policies, rather than treating patients

the university system is failing youngsters, as too many jumped up polytechnics exist, offering Mickey Mouse degrees to youngsters, who are obliged to take on huge debts, while the country actually needs more apprenticeships to produce useful professionals such as plumbers, and electricians. The left wing, woke staff who infest these institutions also brainwash students to be antisemites, free speech be damned, so that those such as Suella Braverman cannot address meetings because of these arrogant know nothings

law and order is collapsing, as the prisons are overflowing, and the courts are almost non functional, resulting in hardened criminals escaping the consequences of their actions, while punishments are so weak as to bear no relation to the actual crimes, and thousands of antisemites are allowed to march in defiance of the law, supporting murderous terrorists

net zero madness is undermining our economy, creating the most expensive electricity in the world, caused by the insane drive to decarbonise, which will guarantee blackouts, and further deindustrialisation, despite the emissions from Britain being less than one per cent of the global total

an idiotic dependency on often malfunctioning technology causing bank branches and post offices to close everywhere, while the same technology is totally undermining the youngest of our people, via ubiquitous use of mobile phones, and the cesspool of social media

senior military men confirm that our armed forces are on the cusp of not being able to defend this country

The Victorians bequeathed to us a self confident nation, with one of the strongest economies in the world, fully capable of defending its interests, while succeeding generations fought and died to preserve our democracy and freedom. Now the bullying of anyone who does not subscribe to the insane mantras of the left on gender etc. is killing free speech.

The student union adolescents in charge have no understanding of how an economy operates, and they are sustained by ubiquitous economic illiteracy, as so many think that governments have access to a magic money tree. Ludicrously millions of working age people are now too mentally stressed to work, and apparently many thousands of schoolchildren are mentally unfit to go to school.

Even before the leadership election has been completed centrists and so called 'one nation' Conservative MPs are rebelling against either possible winner. These people seem oblivious to the fact that it was precisely the policies they advocate which led to the heavy defeat of the Tories at the general election, and that the electorate does not want more of the same, as is evidenced by the rise of Reform. If they were honest these MPs would declare themselves to be Social Democrats, not Conservatives, and fight the next election under that banner. However, as they no doubt wish to retain their seats, I doubt that this will happen.

Finally, although it pales into insignificance in the face of the cancellation of the winter fuel allowance, my wife and I have encountered a further example of a disregard for older people, this time in relation to education. Having paid for, and attended, an Italian language course last year, we enrolled, and paid for, the next stage for the forthcoming year. However the outgoing Conservative government had cancelled the age related discount previously given, thus increasing the cost. Despite paying the new charges, inevitably we were then informed that the course would be cancelled due to lack of attendees, no doubt because bureaucratic policy guided by tick boxes insisted.

Politicians frequently talk about the importance of education, and indeed of the poor knowledge of modern languages among the population, yet we have been deprived of the opportunity to enhance our understanding of Italian. It is also important that people of our age continue to use their mental faculties, and do so, not in isolation, but in a social environment, something which politicians also claim is important to them. I have no doubt that no one will take the blame for this cavalier disregard of the wishes of those seeking to better their education, but it is merely one example of the hypocrisy of the political class.

It is noticeable that the latter attempts to deflect blame by promoting the idea that older people are in some way culpable of exploiting the younger generation, risible when one considers that many of us were born into rationing, had a week at the British seaside as our annual holiday, and started work on as little as five pounds a week. In reality this is not an intergenerational conflict, but yet another example of the perennial class war. The comfortable middle class cares little for the working class, as the former continue to virtue signal, and spend taxpayers money on those who have no claim on this country, unlike the old, who built it.

The Britain into which the older generation was born is dying, and for the ordinary person there is now no light at the end of the tunnel.
