The parasites of the British political class

The political class have destroyed much of what was good about this country, either through stupidity, or because of the selfish desire to advance their own interests at the expense of everyone else. In particular the fact that the UK has joined and remained a member of the European Union, when it is clear to all sensible observers that this is damaging both to our democracy and to our prosperity, is proof that those on the Brussels gravy train, or hoping to board, care nothing for our nation, or the hopes of the British people, and will never voluntarily agree to withdrawal.

Obviously we know of some MPs and other members of the political class who have always behaved in an honourable way, clearly possess principles and have a desire to serve the public but, with these few exceptions, the vast majority are a disgrace.

They have allowed, and indeed encouraged, the creation of a surveillance state, with more CCTV cameras spying on the British people than can be found anywhere else in the world. Many want to force ID cards on the entire population, which would make us beholden to those who are in fact public servants and have plans to, inter alia, read all our emails, prevent us travelling abroad without permission and to make the most intimate details of our lives available to vast numbers of bureaucrats. The excuse for all these intrusions is the need for security but the reality is that small numbers of terrorists are incapable of doing as much damage to our way of life as are those who are undermining our freedom while claiming that they are defending it.

These so called democrats are parasites who are draining the lifeblood from our nation and destroying all that we have built over centuries of political evolution. They claim to represent the people but they represent no one but themselves and they have more in common with each other, and with their fellow politicians in the rest of the European Union, than they do with the citizens of the nations they infest.

The politicisation of the Civil Service and the associated bureaucracies of the local authorities, and of the endless useless NGOs and quangos, has ensured that the wishes of the politicians take precedence over any consideration of the public good, while we have seen the creation of enormous numbers of well paid bureaucratic posts which add nothing to the welfare of the people, but merely satisfy the demands of the politically correct that their absurd agendas dictate policies.

The devaluation of secondary education has destroyed the worth of the exams taken by our children while the ridiculous insistence that a majority go to university is leading to youngsters taking on enormous debts in order to gain degrees, most of which are of no real use in finding well paid employment in the workplace, while the sort of apprentice schemes, which once provided an effective road to jobs in genuine trades, have been largely destroyed.

The changes to the NHS have placed accountants and managers in charge, instead of medical staff, with the results we see in the disgusting number of deaths from hospital acquired infections, and in the disgraceful situations which have come to light in Mid Staffordshire and elsewhere.

The slavish adherence by our politicians to the demands of their masters in Brussels means that the railways have been privatised, in a way that benefits no one except the companies, who care nothing for passengers, only for profit; the waste collection system has been distorted by EU rules on disposal to the point where law abiding rate payers are often treated like criminals for making simple mistakes and the refusal of local authorities to empty bins weekly leads to a plague of maggots; the postal service which has served us so well for so long faces destruction as the EU's insistence on privatisation are forced upon us.

The undermining of our ancient system of Common Law now leaves British citizens facing the prospect of being extradited, without hindrance by our own judges, to other parts of the EU at the whim of often corrupt systems of justice and on charges which would not be considered criminal in the UK. At the same time the lack of realistic sanctions now available in this country means that ordinary working people suffer high levels of crime while most of the legislators live in areas that are not so afflicted.

Thanks to the policies of these politicians the British police force, once a source of pride, has been reduced to one which cannot find time to investigate burglaries but pursues anyone who dares to make jokes which offend the politically correct or, as happened recently, to arrest a photographer for taking a picture of Nelson's Column and Trafalgar Square on the grounds that there might be children in view, as now every adult is regarded as a potential paedophile.

While most working people need qualifications to obtain their positions these incompetent, so called democratic representatives, need nothing beyond an ability to avoid answering straight questions, and a capacity to endure boring committee meetings, while all the time doing whatever the party leaders tell them, regardless of what they may have promised voters when they were elected.

They are not usually overtly corrupt but recent revelations make clear that the rules they themselves make are often pushed to a shameless extreme in order to benefit them and their families. We are told that many consider that they deserve a pay rise and, in lieu of this, wish to treat allowances as additional payments due by right. When one considers that they have handed away most of the powers of the Commons to Brussels, and have reduced their working hours significantly, this can only be regarded as an arrogant and indefensible position to take, particularly as there is intense competition at election time for every MP's position.

Of course the worse examples of useless politicians are to be found in the European Parliament, a fig-leaf provided by the architects of the EU to cover the absence of democracy in the way the superstate is to be run. These people are paid vast sums to take part in this talking shop, where they are allowed to make speeches of no more than ninety seconds and have no power to instigate or amend any legislation but merely either accept or reject the proposals of the unelected Commissioners. This so called parliament costs the taxpayers of Europe almost unbelievable amounts and is nothing more than the ultimate reward for machine politicians who know on which side their bread is buttered. Furthermore the plans of the EU for a 'Europe of the Regions' are responsible for the creation of the regional assemblies, which the public doesn't want but the politicians do, as it gives them yet another career path at our expense.

The greatest political thinker of the twentieth Century was George Orwell and his great works show just how well he knew the nature of British politicians. What we now face is the creation in our country, and indeed our continent, of the nightmare world of 1984, different in detail, but the same in principle - the politicians as the Inner Party, the bureaucrats as the Outer Party, the transformation of the police force into the Thought Police, the imposition of Newspeak by the PC brigade. This is rule by oligarchy, not democracy.

We will receive no help from the media, who are for the most part in thrall to the political establishment. The BBC is a disgrace as, where it once spoke for the nation in the Second World War, it now treats every opponent of the EU as some sort of lunatic or villain, while the national press seems more interested in the private lives of insignificant, so called celebrities, than it does in the fate of our nation.

It is difficult to see what can now be done, given the extent to which democracy has been debased by the political class, but, as Churchill said, democracy is the worst system, except all the others, and, as we have no wish to see any sort of military or political dictatorship in our country, we must hope that the democratic system can yet prevail.

The list of things to be done is long. First and most important is to withdraw from the EU, and repeal legislation enacted as a result of EU directives. Any plans for ID cards and all associated databases should be scrapped and the impertinent snooping on every facet of our lives, whether it be by CCTV cameras or by arrogant bureaucrats must be ended. The centralisation of power in Whitehall must be reversed and real democratic powers restored to local authorities and to local people to decide upon schools, hospitals and policing in their areas.

When we contemplate the challenges involved it is obvious that they would require the main political parties to undergo a sea change in attitudes and the chances of that are slim indeed. Indeed we need some sort of moral renewal, not related to the private sexual morals of individuals, but rather to old fashioned values such as honour, responsibility and the willingness to place the common good above one's own advantage. The greatest enemies of democracy are corruption and a lack of accountability, the latter being built into the fabric of the EU and increasingly into the system of Westminster government, as politicians seek to evade responsibility by hiding behind appointed bodies and removing effective power from the Commons.

The sidelining of Parliament in favour of the executive, and of the Brussels dictatorship, could be reversed but it would require the overthrow of the entrenched vested interests of the party leaderships. However unless the people wake up and throw out the charlatans that now disfigure the Mother of Parliaments, replacing them with true democrats who say what they mean, mean what they say, and genuinely believe in principle, there is no future for democracy and freedom in these islands.

Can anyone doubt that the words of Oliver Cromwell dissolving the Long Parliament, given to the House of Commons on the 20th April 1653, do not apply to the present day inhabitants of that place

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone!

So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!
