Minutes of AGM - 15th May 2009

Apologies for absence: Ed Peacock

  1. Election of Chairman and Secretary
  2. Mr Archer was elected as Chairman and and Mr Bullen as Secretary for the meeting.

  3. Election of members of Committee
  4. The Chairman suggested that both candidates for the committee be appointed and this was formerly proposed by Philip Hugell and seconded by Christopher Daws, the meeting then agreeing unanimously. Marie Bayliss and Andrew Male have therefore become committee members.

Gerald Baines proposed and Peter Reeve seconded the proposition that Bob Beatty should be re-elected and this was also agreed.

  5. Future events
    1. The Chairman stated that the usual croquet afternoon would take place at 12 noon on the 17th June and asked that all those intending to come should let him know as soon as possible.
    2. Sheila Rhodes gave details of the Jubilee Sailing Trust. Guided tours were available between 10 a.m and noon and 2 p.m and 4 p.m on the 11th and 12th July and the 19th September. It was also possible to sail on one of the tall ships or to experience a climb to the top of a mast. Details can be found on a website at http://www.jst.org.uk
    3. Linda Kendrick reported that an organised walk had already taken place and that another was planned for the forthcoming year.

  6. Any other business
    1. The Chairman reported that Ed Peacock is happy to continue as editor of "Contact" and would welcome contributions from members.
    2. Colin Bullen reported that the website was operational and would also welcome contributions
    3. Keith Lovelock inquired as to the state of the current pension provision but the Chairman was unable to answer as he did not have access to the necessary details. (Later Andrew Brown, Secretary of the Church Commissioners, gave an assurance that the pensions were safe)

The meeting closed at 12:51 p.m.

    Colin Bullen
